Apparently touring is not recession-proof, which the Scissor Sisters have recently discovered the hard way.

The NY-based band has had to cancel its European tour dates for all shows (except the ones in England) due to “funding issues.” The statement on their official website was equally vague, stating only that they were “very disappointed, but it is beyond anyone’s control.”

The countries affected include Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Italy - refunds for all show will be made.

Check back for more Scissor Sisters news and tour information. Let’s hope things can only get better.

We’d also like to thank everyone who’s bought the album, it’s been lodged firmly in the iTunes top ten this last week, and that’s mostly to do with the loyal fans that have supported us through the years.”

I can only think of one artist that is more controversial than the Scissor Sisters, and that’s Kanye West.

So, what’s the big hoopla about the Scissor Sisters, you ask? The band was originally Dead Lesbian and the Fibrillating Scissor Sisters. It was shortened to its current name, which comes from a lesbian sexual position. Interestingly enough, the only woman in the group—Ana Matronic (born Ana Lynch)—is not a lesbian.

The other Scissor Sisters are Jake Shears, Babydaddy, Del Marquis and Randy Real.

To date, the band has two studio albums, and the third album “Invisible Lights” is scheduled for release in March 2010. So far, 13 songs have been recorded:

1. “Hollywood Wives”
2. “Permanent Wave”
3. “Invisible Light”
4. “Skin This Cat”
5. “Television”
6. “Who’s Your Money”
7. “Other Girls”
8. “Major For You”
9. “None Of My Business”
10. “Who’s There”
11. “Singularity”
12. “Not The Loving Kind”
13. “Taking Shape”
